need help with old school mtx sub

I am new to the forums //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wave.gif.002382ce7d7c19757ab945cc69819de1.gif and new to car audio. I have a mtx 12" t4124 (http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/archive/2001Thunder4000Sub.cfm) that was given to me like 3 years ago. i know its old. so i just hooked it up (bridged) with a phoenix gold octane r 4.0:2 (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_2638_Phoenix+Gold+Octane-R+4.0-2+R4.0-2.html) and the amp blew i think after 2 weeks. it turns on and off and will only stay on if its adujsted all the way down. my questions are:

1. did the amp over work itself?

2. can anyone reccomend a amp for the mtx sub i have?

that octane is Korean junk sonic electronics will warranty it i think you probley just got a bad one.if you have to get a new amp may i suggest a pg zenon or there is a ppi in the classified section that would prolly work great for you

i dont even know if i want to mess with PG again. and that ppi looks good though i have never heard of them. thanks

any other recomendations are highly appreciated....as well as a answer to my second question.
