Alright guys, you can see what i have in my car from my signature. I don't have a new head unit to power my subwoofers. In my type of car, you can't really put in a new deck without making some serious modifications. Does this affect my subwoofer quality significantly? I had a guy at sound advice tune my amp low, so that way my subs hit a lil lower. Should i get dynamat?

Also, what's with the V2 500/1 amp? Anyone have anything to say about that? is it significantly better than the regular 500/1? If it is, i'll prob just go to Sound Advice and get the V2 because you can upgrade for free there, i'll just have to pay the difference if its over $530 or something like that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Also, what is the JL c5 speaker exactly?

a new hu would give you more control for your sub. there are a lot of products out there just as good and better than dynamat for less. i would suggest in using something. i'm not familiar with that amp but why would you spend over $500 on an amp that only does 500w at 1.5ohm?? don't get jl just because of the name or a shop carries it. get it because you did some research and actually think the product will work well for you.

So long as your head unit doesn't have any funky EQing going on, it really shouldnt affect your subs. However, some stock head units are designed to cut bass at high volume in order to reduce harm to the cheapo stock speakers. If you would like more control over your sub, look into something like an epicenter or an equalizer. If you're really serious about getting good sound from your factory radio, look into a JL Cleansweep or RF 3.Sixty.

Deadener is always a good investment. Go hit up Ant over at SecondSkinAudio.com. Second skin is an amazing product and definately outclasses Dynamat.

I wouldn't bother upgrading to a 500/1v2. From what I can tell, I don't think there is much difference between the V1 and V2...

how much does this equalizer cost? or the JL cleansweep or Rf 3.sixty?

Im so stupid, i had a chance to get free dynamat from my friend, but i didnt start needing it until now. It still doesnt rattle that much, but more than it did when i first got it.

Thx for all the help guys

I'm not exactly sure how much they cost... look em up on eBay.

Does your stock radio reduce the bass and exaggerate the mids at high volume? How are your amps getting signal? From a line output converter?

it might, when i turn it up a lot louder, it seems like the bass doesnt go up, but the music does. is ther a way to turn that off?

And yes im pretty sure i have a converter that gives them the signal

usually that's what the stock radios are designed to do... the only way to defeat this while retaining the factory deck is to get something along the lines of a cleansweep.
