I need your help. I want to add sounds to my 97 Honda Accord, but I have no idea about car audio. I want to spend around 3-4G's. Basically I need to know what exactly I need(i.e what amps go with what subs etc) I listen to rap music so bass is a must. Can you guys give me a list on exactly what I need and how to match it up.

alpine / kenwood HU

boston rally speakers

infinity 12 inchs subs on a JL amp (1200.1)

1 PG (or other brand) QX350.4 amp for normal speakers

guessing you would end up paying somewhere around 2 g's

peace

Wow, 3-4 G's, your options are soooo limited. LOL:D

Look at my signature at my system, it makes a great transition between Rap and R & B. Which is a must, right?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Right now http://www.audio-warehouse.com is having a blowout sale on Kicker subs. You can pick up a couple of 15's for $199/each, or some 10's for $149/each. I'm pretty sure their the 2001 models and not the 2002, just in case that matters to you.

Don't let a shop screw you over, its possible to get internet type discounts at a shop if you haggle enough.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Sometimes you have to compromise. I really wanted Infinity Perfect speakers, but the shop didn't carry them. So I got a discount for sticking with their best brand, the MB Quart. I could have easily paid $4500 for my stereo at retail, but I wasn't going to let that happen. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif

3-4 Grand is quite a bit to spend. Do you only care about bass, or do you want some sound quality as well? If you want some hard hitting bass check out the following brands, Kove (Armageddon), Adire (Brahma), MMATS (Juggernaut), DD (9500), Cerwin Vega (Stroker), Orion (HCCA), Earthquake (BALLS/Magma), Eclipse (Ti), Kicker (Solobaric L7), and Memphis (Loud Volume). You could easily get a couple or three of these 12's, or two 15's with a couple few amps, depending which subs you get.

Thanks alot....I was thinking about getting this set

Boston Pro 6.5 @ way(400W) Proseries 6.5

JL Audio 4 channel Amp 300/4

Mtx 8100D Amp

PIONEER TS-A6985 6x9 4-WAY

What is the Best subs to get....

How would that system add up,i in terms of the front(6. 5)and back speakers(6X9) plus the amps and subs What would u keep or take out. I already have the MTX 8100D Amp so I guess I have to build around that.

Okay, first off, how many subs are you planning on running? Since this is going into an Accord, I would assume the largest you could comfortably fit in there would be two 12's. Are you willing to purchase another MTX 8100D? The JL Audio amp for your front and rear stage is an excellent amp, and I would definately keep that. If you don't place a lot of importance in SQ, your setup looks good so far; coupled with your 4K budget, you could get a whole lot of sub! If you want a little better SQ, I would personally shy away from firstly the Pioneer 6X9's (I used to have the 3 way - they were okay, but not amazing), and secondly, I would consider getting component speakers for your front stage. The Boston Coax are nice, however. They are a good choice. What kind of HU will you be running with your setup?

I personally didn't like the Bostons when I heard them, but to each his own. With that big a budget you have no choice but to get components. LOL

I would go with Phoenix Gold or Precision Power for the amp. I'd stick to 2 channel, and cut out the rear speakers all together. Then I'd beef up to a larger amp, somewhere around 125 watts per channel or more. You can still stick with JL Audio if that's important to you. The 300/2 puts out 150w x 2. Now that will do those Bostons right.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I would also run two 12" subs. For real kick a$$ boom go with the Adire Audio Brahma's or the JL w6. You might want another MTX8100D though.

Other speakers to look at are Focal, MB Quart, Infinity Perfect, CDT, Oz Audio or Dynaudio.

Other amps are Zapco, Rockford Fosgate and McIntosh.

I was givng this HU Panasonic CQ-DVR909U, I just found out that it doesn't play CD-R so I have buy a CD Changer...

I'm totally a novice when it comes to this. Sorry if I am asking stupid or elementary questions. I don't want to go to a shop shop and get hustled. If I ave toget another amp its no problem. Should I get another 8100D? I am getiing a custom install so should 2 15's fit. All and al is this what I need to g2t:

(1) 1500W for EACH 15" SUB

(1) 150w 2-channel AMP for the front 6.5 component seakers

(1) 300w 4 channel AMP for the 4 6X9's I want toput in the back

a cap

an EQ or Crossover

thanks alot for ur help

I really don't see the 6 x 9's as something you need. If you had an SUV I could see it, but not in an Accord. I used to be all into having rear speakers, until I tried high powered components in the front with nothing in the back but subs. It's a beautiful thing. Try it like that first. Adding things later is easier than taking them away, right.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I don't think it matters specifically how many watts your pushing per sub. One MTX amp for both is alright, two is great and three would be punishing.

You'll need more than just a cap for power. You'll need to upgrade your alternator, either get a new one or have yours rewound. Ideally you'll want at least 120-140 amperes. And a deep cycle battery would be nice too. Optima red or yellow tops are popular.

Regardless of whether the 15's will fit you should still think about going with two 12's. It's not always "the bigger the better." For my personal needs 10's are the best size normally, go figure.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
