Ok, I've tried to read up on this but got very confused with all the technical terms. I'm tired right now so nothing really makes sense (it's 4am and I haven't slept since I woke up at 10am yesterday).
I haven't been into the whole sub/amp stuff in years, since I had a car that it would be very hard to install aftermarket stuff into it. I'm getting a different car now that it will be easier (1998 Chevy Lumina), so I want to see if I can get myself back into this. But, I've forgotten my knowledge of all of this stuff.
So, my question is this... What's the deal with all the ohm ratings when wiring one or two subs into an amp? I do not have an amp or any subs yet, as I've sold the amp and subs I used to have years ago when needing some serious cash. My plans in the next few months is just to get one decent sub at probably 300 or 400 rms, and an amp to power it.
I will have an equalizer in the front of the car, which the headunit will be connected to. I have a Jensen MPH4210 unit with a Boss equalizer, and once I get the car this week or next, whenever my mechanic is done with it, I will be installing that right away. Eventually I'd like to hook up an amp to the equalizer, to control the volume of the subwoofer(s) from the front of the car (in case I'm driving in a high-police-infested area, I can quickly turn it down or off).
So, that's my setup in a nutshell, and my question about the ohms stuff... Thanks in advance.
