Need help with 1990 bronco head unit....

Ok so I want a nice touch screen for my 1990 ford bronco which is a single din. I was thinking of getting a flip out deck but not sure if they are strong enough to take the bass abuse.

So my options are

1. Get a flip out (if they can take the abuse)

2. Mod my truck to take a double din

3. Place a double din in a custom center console

I know this is really up to me but I guess I can avoid the last 2 if their are flip outs that can hold up to abuse...

Also would flip down be stronger the flip up?

All i hear is that single din flip outs fall apart at the hinge.

When it comes to Head units. Pioneer, alpine, and kenwoods are really the only brands you should look at. Everything else is chinese terrible crap.

Some would argue newer sony is okay...bah to that nonsense.

Why are you trying to go for a double din? I personally dont like anything too showy. Also many touch screens dont have a volume knob, which means when you want to turn the vol +/-, you have to press vol up/vol down button on the screen abunch of times. Thats such a hugee hassle. Sometimes you need to turn down the music quick and a volume knob is so much more useful.

Seems like your budget is pretty good. Have you considered an Pioneer 80prs? 5volt pre out. Super clean. it is THE sound quality head unit. Its a single din and its effing gorgeous.

you can get one for 250(if your lucky)-300.

Don't really need a double din but would love the touch screen. My truck doesn't really have a lot going on. So adding lil things could bring it out a bit. I like the point about the knob. Since when I had my system in I got pulled over about 5 times within 5 months....need to be able to turn it down quick while the boys walking up to my widow...one time we tried to dip on a check point since my boy was drunk and had the 357. They trapped us and for some reason my music was still full tilt when they made it to the widow...man

Most Double DIN's come with a wireless remote, which usually has an attenuation button on it, When pressed it reduces the volume immediately. Also, the push button volume on the HU Doesn't have to be pushed multiple times to get the volume down, just push the button once and hold it down, the volume will drop/raise quick.

Yeah I think It would be better and cheaper for me to build a center console for the double din...
