sorry if this question has been asked before or if there's a vid on youtube about it but i can't find anything to matching what i need to know.
just 9 months ago i replaced my factory 95 amp alt with an aftermarket 250 amp alt. a month ago i installed an mla module to raise my peak charging voltage on my alternator but it's gone from 14.9 charging volts to 13.9, what i was actually getting before i installed the mla module. i have heard of guys having dual alts on their vehicles, using 1 for the vehicles electrical needs and a 2nd alt for the system. what i'm curious about..is it do-able and safe? there are vids of multiple alts installed but not showing how they were installed and wired. the alts i have are 3g ford with the 3 pin harness that plugs into the back. would i split those 3 wires, splice into them to connect to the 2nd alternator? and would i switch the big 3 over from my underhood battery and run it from my HO alt to my amp batteries in the back? i'm not worried about setting off any errors in my computer, as long as i don't burn anything up or cause problems, the check engine light has been on for the past 6 years since i took the O2 sensors off my truck to install duals. i will keep searching for "how to" vids on this but please help me out with these problems, i plan to start tomorrow and build a bracket for the 2nd alternator. thanks for all help and suggestions
