how much amperage does your alternator put out...

if it cuts out while you are moving slow or at a standstill in could very possibly be that the amp is drawing to much power from the alternator and is forced to turn into protect mode (red light usually) and it won't turn back it is shut off. this is a very common problem that happens.

try not too turn it up so high unless you are going 45+ mph, should help

i dont know what the issue is but i was running 2 alpine type s 12'' subs. sealed box. it doesnt matter how fast or slow i go it still cuts. Ground is secure. but still runs on protect even with no speakers are hooked up. any ideas? thanks for posting

To each his own, but on my 04 Quad in some poorly lit conditions at night I have enough of a problem seeing to back up that I had to buy 55 watt backup lights. A car looks better to me all around with all windows tinted to match including windshield but the visibility problems aren't worth it to me.

Some people do it. Black out the car, it looks cool.. LOL (I don't do it though)

If nothing is hooked up to your amp, but your head unit RCA's and the power wires (speakers unhooked) and you turn the volume up past half and the amp is going into protect something is either wrong with the amp, or the head unit, or possibly even your head unit is putting out too much voltage in the RCA cables for your amps input circuit to handle, causing protect mode after the voltage reaches the pre-set threshold.
