I have an Alpine Ida-x100 (soon to buy the PHA-x100)

JBL 80.4 ( http://manuals.harman.com/JBL/CAR/Owner%27s%20Manual/bp_om.pd )

Amp does 40 x 4 @ 4 ohms 80 x 4 @ 2ohms

I have 4 inch comps and 4 inch coax right now which are all 4 ohm speakers, I really want to install some sealed midbass speakers in the kickpanels and Im not sure how to do it as of now...

I would prefer not to buy another amp, i can run speakers off the HU if needed.

Im not sure that the sound processor will allow me to run active like I want to so i need some help...

Thanks!

William

the pxa will allow you to run active, you just have to flick the switch on it.
Not if you want to run mid-bass (bandpass)

I went and talked to some guys @ a B&M store, but i doubt their knowledge

well then you have to decide who you want to believe. they will be telling you anything they can to get you to buy things from them. i don't care what you buy or who you buy it from.

taken directly from the alpine site:

If you prefer to do sound tuning yourself, the processor provides various manual tuning functions. 6-channel Digital Time Correction lets you compensate for speaker placement so you hear all channels at the same time. You can also customize the sound with a selectable 7-band graphic equalizer or 5-band parametric equalizer, 3-way/2-way crossover and subwoofer phase selection. You can manually toggle between MediaXpander with all these great sound control adjustments and IMPRINT to tune your sound the way you want.

just flick the switch. should you require further enlihgtenment, you should read the manual. Remember that your drivers will be hooked up to your amp with no safety net. I'd read the manual if I was going to hook up an amp directly to my tweeters...then I'd have a bit more than 40 watts:D

thanks, I think im going to go ahead and buy the processor, and give it a good try. Do you have it? Do you like it?

Awsome, its just that i have tried to find an example of people using that and on youtube there is an example of a guy using the imprint on his iDA-x100 and it didnt seem right.

Dark Side it is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I ordered the Pxa-h100 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

so I think im going to run a pair of 4 inch comps and then do 6.5 midbass like the MLI-65 or somthing (with the bandpass) that will do well off 50ish rms per speaker (planning on getting more power) and crossing them from 80-1k hertz and having the comps go from 200-500 to 20k hertz

What do you guys think?

btw Im using a 4channel amp and am trying to run everything off of that right now for money reasons

so the rear would be mids and front would be comps and rear fill basically

Why? I am planning on running a dedicated midbass speaker IB in my doors

Why do you want to go active? because everyone else is doing it? I want more midbass

What is your goal with it? What happens after you go active? Dance around and join the awsome active club

You set the crossover points... then what?

My plans when i get more $$ is to get a nice crossover and get midbass midrange and tweets all together

Will it automatically make your speakers sound better just because you get to set your own crossover points?

Thanks for sarcasm

What if you set your crossover points that's exactly like the passive crossover of the comp set (assuming it's a component set)?

^^^

What's with this new active movement?

SOME people are actually learning stuff from this website an look up to people who do awsome installs

Please try to reply without using the term "SQ."

Happy?
