yeah, just to make sure you understand this...
-Same power, slightly large subs = Almost no difference
-Way more power, same subs = Decent increase in SPL, not much change in SQ

So basically changing the subs isn't going to do a **** thing (since they are so close to the same sub), but upgrading the amp or adding another should result in a pretty decent increase in SPL.
The only thing that would make your subs hit noticeably lower would be the box. Lower tuning = more low end, also a bigger box with the same tuning usually has a similar effect, just not as significant.
