I was looking to buy a sub and amp for my car, I have been excited about it for about 2 months. I went onto the website where I was gonna purchase the Sub and found out that its a 4 ohm DVC And I thought it was a SVC. The sub is 800W RMS and 2500W peak. I was wanting to get a 3600W Digital Monoblock amp with these specs.

RMS @ 4 Ohm 400w

RMS @ 2 Ohm 800w

RMS @ 1 Ohm 1500w

Max Wattage at 1 ohm 3000w

Will this still work well?

Yes, that amp is perfect for the sub. Forget about MAX wattage specifications, they mean nothing. They are only on the box for marketing.

Now if you look at the RMS, the sub is rated for 800wrms (4 ohm DVC can be wired to 2 ohms) and the amp is rated for 800wrms @ 2 ohms.

Check out http://www.bcae1.com for loads of information.

Thanks man, now, if i wanted to get two of those subs would it still hold out at one ohm?

As you can see im a complete noob //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Ok, what do you mean by rated power? and even though two subs would equal 1600W RMS and the amp at 1 ohm can manage 1500W RMS will it still be ok without damaging the Subs?

its doubtful that that amp will actually produce 1500w at 1 ohm load.

with out knowing exactly what amp it is, it probly can do about 200w less than advertized

on a car with a good electrical system.

stock electrical system = even less rms w.

Whoa, I just had a look at the prices for that amp and I can only find it second hand and its more then 3 times the price of the one im wanting, which is brand new. Maybe I should just buy an extra one of those amps, and hook it up to the second Sub when the time comes. That Amp alone costs more than I want my entire installation to cost and it will also push me into another class //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
