I need some help tuning my new setup. No matter what I do I cannot get the new speakers to sound good. I tried using the dmm method of setting the gains but am a little confused. I came up 31.622 as the voltage I should be getting at 3/4 volume on 50hz test tone. When I do this I am only getting about 8-9 volts with the gains around a half.

Any tips on tuning. It sounds ok on rap songs but in other genres that bass does not sound clean at all. I bought this setup hopeing for really good sq and figured it would still get decently loud with 1000rms.

Where would be a good crossover point for my setup. I have Image dynamics ctx65cs speakers in the front powered by a alpine mrp-f300 bridged and also the to idq10s and sundown amp mentioned in this thread. Where would a good crossover point be to cross the speaker amp and sub amp?

Personally I like to set my LPF to about 60/65hz. Anything higher than that catches too much of the upper bass notes. I let the mids come in at 60-80hz and higher, 12db crossover.

When you said it sounds OK on bass, but not other types of music - is it too quiet or does it get distorted/overmod?

Setting by test tones usually makes you set the gain too low for music. You can try using a -3db test tone to get a more accurate measurement for music.
