I recently have been having trouble with my Amp/Subwoofer cutting out or maybe "clipping" at high volume. If I turn the head unit to volume level 17 or so, out of 35, the sub seems to stop working, not entirely, but not like it should. Recently the speaker leads were ripped out of the amp causing the fuse to blow, I'm not sure if this is when the problem started or the cause of it either. I replaced the fuse and I noticed this problem.
2001 Mustang GT with Mach460 Speakers
Kenwood Excelon KDC-X891 Head Unit
Kenwood Excelon KAC-X10D Amp (1 ohm stable)
Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1212DVC 12" Subwoofer wired for 1 Ohm
Kenwood KCA-WR10 Bass Boost Knob
Things I have tried so far:
-Checking the wiring for shorts/kinks, I pulled up the carpet as well as removed the sub from the box and found no damage/stress.
-Adjusting the Subwoofer levels on the head unit, bass boost knob, and "gain" or Input Sensitivity on the Amp. Tried a lot of combinations with no luck.
Another thing I would like to add is that nothing has changed in my set-up since the day it was installed I had no such problems that day, ie. I could turn up the volume to max and the sub would continue to hit extremely hard.
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
