I finally get my new amp in the mail today(XXV Colossus) after 5 months with no bass. I get it all hooked up and im making some adjustments on my amp when my front left component speakers gets all distorted and finally i see smoke coming from my door panel so i jump in the car to shut it off and my front right speakers is very distorted as well but still playing. I unhooked both sets of speakers from the amp....there completely fried. i grabbed a set of old 6.5's i had laying around the garage and hooked them up to my ZX450.2 and poof, the left speakers goes up in smoke. the 450. 2 is frying speakers but is not going into protect mode. I've been running this amp and component for ever 9 months and all i did was install my new sub amp. each amp has its own run of 1/0 wire from the front batt. I have a 200 amp alt and a red top up front. the voltages never dropped below 12. so, what the F***'s going on any ideas? Would the fact that my car has a uni-body cause ground issues?

BTW the bass sounds amazing

All i did was install the new sub amp with the wiring that was there from the previously installed amp. did nothing whatsoever to my kicker amp, setting or wiring. Speakers blew within seconds. Subs and sub amp worked and are still working perfectly. I'm thinking its ground issue. My car has a uni-body. Wondering if that might have something to do with it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

check the wires going to that speaker make sure there not shorted, if their good get a meter and check the AC voltage from the amp it shouldnt be doin more than abt 20-30V AC.

Amp is toast. Pics of of it here: http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?p=4141167#post4141167

DB-R said he could fix it for about $80. the thing is, i need to find out why this happened before i spend money on new parts and have it happen again.
