I've been trying to set up an amp in my 2000 Subaru Impreza. When i turn on the deck I don't get any power to the amp. I've tried many different approaches and wire combinations trying to get power. What could my problem be?

I also tried to connect another amp that I know is in perfect working order to the wire setup i have, and it too does not power up.

I know that I have a good feed of 12V voltage, and I'm pretty sure i have a good ground. I think I just need to figure out how to connect the remote better.

Can anyone help?

Eh... there should be a small wire going from the amp turn on wire to the amp... pretty simple... I don't see how you can mess that up. I didn't and I'm a dumbass :p

Ok well insults aside (jerk)

What type of amp and headunit are you using?

Did you use a wiring harnest to wire the headunit into stock wires?

You should have wired in the power antenna into the harnest but the remote line should not have. It is typically (typically) a blue wire with a white or yellow line down it.

Your ground is imo the most important for quality...make sure the ring is mounted to bare scraped metal and using a star washer is a good idea under it. THey dig into metal more than regular washers.

Your remote does not have to be anything fancy but a simple wire connected to your headunit's remote out or if that is not ava the power antenna out.

Let me know if you make any progress

First of all, I have a Pioneer DEH-F24 Head unit with a Legacy amp. I did hook the unit up by a wire harness.

A main question that I have is should the remote be hooked up to a wire from the stock wires, or should it be hooked up to a wire from the head unit?

just run the blue wire you should have got with the amp wiring kit straight from the headunit to the amp. the wire coming out of a pioneer head unit is usually blue w/a white stripe with a funny little spade-like connector on the end. cut off the connector and splice it to the remote wire, then run it straight to the amp. you would probably be safe running it right along with your rca cables without fear of interference. word.
