I am in the process of finishing up the the restoration of my '65 Mustang. I picked up a pair of 6.5" Alpine Type-X Ref. components (with inline crossovers) and a pair of 10" Alpine Type-X subs. I do not know a lot about car audio equipment so I am looking for some advice on some amps to purchase. I would like to stick with Alpine amps to match the rest of my equipment. I know the subs are rated for 1000 rms but I do not need to push the speakers to their limit. I just want a good sounding stereo in the car so under-powering the subs isn't a big deal to me.
Do I need a 2-channel or a 4-channel amp to run the pair of component speakers? Which alpine amps would you recommend?
The subs are dual voice coil subs and are 4 ohms. How many channels do I need for the amp to run these two subs? Which alpine amps do you recommend?
Any other comments and suggestions are appreciated!
