Need Help quick. Keys stuck in ignition, truck on

Aight, we got it finally lol
well since the key is still seized up in the ignition, do u think the ignition went out???
right idea, wrong words.

Your ignition was fine, hence it was till running.

Your ignition switch thou might have a problem.

And **** its hard to give a worthy reply on CA.com, shit moves so fast in these threads.

My key was stuck in my car for awhile, I could get it to shut the car off, but not far enough back to get the key out, so I'd just do that and undo the battery connections.
Wiggle the shifter around, tap the brake, or maybe pull the truck forward a bit, and come to a quick stop and try. I know mine had a sensor go bad in the shifter (automatic too) and it thought it wasn't in Park, so it wouldn't let the key come out.

Easiest way to get the truck shut off would be take the air filter off real quick and cover the opening up, pull a few spark wires off, block the exhaust, drain the oil, or even cut fuel/run out of gas
i hope you are joking about draining the oil:wow:

lol alright thx...push rod?

lol but there was a full tank
I dont know the technical name but it is a rod that pushes a switch inside the column when the key is turned......Oh it's no fun to do....Ford is notorious for them breaking in the tilt columns but Chevy's have been known to break also. What happens to make the key not turn to the off position is the rod gets bound up.You mayget lucky and it just be the ignition lock cylinder.....easy fix.Good Luck.

unplugged the alternator then disconnected the positive battery terminal
****it, I was thinking that but its not the safest idea and the fuel pump fuse/relay came into my mind just after that.

Scratch that, unbolting the power wire on the alt isn't the safest, unplugging it was probably pretty easy.

lol im extremely limited...im only 17 :p
So am I //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif Don't worry about it, I don't think everyone here has the expectations that everyone should know everything.

go and pull off the interior cover around the bottom of the tumbler on the ignition itself. ok now get a small pin or something u will see a button kinda small looking push it in push in the key with the tumbler try and turn it if not. See if you can just pull out the tumbler if u get the tumbler out take a flat head screw driver in the ignition and slowly not forceful turn back the ignition.

crodski there not hard to replace at all man u hit that small little button on the bottom that takes the old one out and follow the directions u get with the new tumbler because sometime's your not supposed to turn them other's you are there farily cheap here only like $15 . shouldn't be to bad by you either im guessn.

thomas do u mean u put in a new tumbler by a new key ignition or what did u mean by that. or also man may be something simple and u might just need a new key made teeth on one u have a getting worn out.

If you take it out and turn the key back, the switch will not go back in.

you guys having ignition/key troubles...when the keys do finally turn does it sometimes take alot of effort as if its dragging when turning, like there's extra weight being turned...??
