need help pickin out a laptop

Sounds to be pretty nice, the 1705 and the new hp dv9000's where the 2 i was looking at, ended up just getting the hp after a long decision process with lots of help from forums, consumer reports, computer mags etc..

1.63 mhz core 2 duo

2 GB ddr2

160 GB hd 7400

geforce 7600

-webcam. 1.3 mpxl cam

-17" screen

paid 1500 for it and love the new hp looks

Sounds badass for a laptop. I was going to build a $800 gaming PC, but the more I'm on the move, I'm leaning towards a laptop. $1500 sounds like a great price looking at those specs. What model is this again? Is this a 9000t?

I would suggest the macbook, that's what I'm using and I love it.

I did a straight up switch from a pc and don't regret it at all.

Seeing how you don't want mac though I would get an HP, they are getting some pretty good reviews from consumer reports.

well my problem is no more!!! and it cost me nothing!!! ha ha. my mom has an inspiron 8500, and her mother board went for like the 3rd or 4th time, so shes done with it. and its got the same screen as mine!!! woohoo!!! of course i still got my other problems such as freezing (especially when im in the middle of writing a reply to this thread stating how excited i am to have my computer back!). anyways, pop dukes ordered mom dukes one of those new IBM's...they start with an L i believe, dont remember the name but im sure theyve been mentioned in this thread. and if they like it, they said theyll get me one, woot!!!

yea its the dv9000.. Plays games awesome, even fear and half life2 at medium to hi settings.. If your gaming i would opt to the 512mb Geforce, only if your hardcore playing games, i m as much into them as the consoles but it is nice to have something that will play a fun game onYea and there coupons and rebates on these all the time
