need help pickin out a laptop

My stupid dell's LCD sreen went, and its got many other problems so it looks like im gonna be in the market for a laptop. it must be something with a warranty, so a pieced together/self built computer wont work, im assuming. now Dell is def out of the question. i dont know too much about computers, but my main requirement is that i get something reliable. i dont want to be having all the stupid problems that i have with my dell. whats like the brand with the best rep? HP, toshiba, Sony, gateway? next most important are the options. i want a powerful computer. nice fat hard drive, fast processing, large memory, nice video and sound cards. i do not want intel either... AMD or something else, but i hate intel with a passion. so what can you guys suggest? TIA

whatever you get, make sure it has a good video card, not an intergrated, "intel extreme" or whatever, get something lik ati 9600 or better or Nvidia equivilant.

Price range? of course i could reccomend a 5000$ laptop...

They are sweet... but lots of apps dont work on them, so if ur business oriented, then u'd wanan double chekc that.

he could probably get an alienware for $2500.

He could always just get another dell and buy the extended waranty. Sometimes parts do go bad, but i dont think dell is any worse than like HP, compaq or gateway. I would rather have a dell than those 3.

no mac for me, i need pc. and alienware sounds like its waaaay too expensive. my experience with dell has been horrible, and so has everyone else i know. my buddy got an hp like a year ago cause his dell quit, and his hp is still running amazingly.

ive had nothing but good luck with dell, but get the extended waranty.

Actually i had problems with a desktop many years ago, and complained enough so that they gave me a new comp at the end of my 3 year waranty, a system exchange.

You can get some crazy free shit form dell if you complain enough

i think ill pass on dell. im so done with them, they make total shit. i just priced some comps, and sony and toshiba are freaking expensive as hell (for anything worthwhile), so i think they might be outta the Q. so i think that basically leaves gateway and hp, unless there are other ideas...
