Need help on LOC

so like the actuall steering column like as in the box looking thing below the wheel, or like back in the dash behind the steering column?

The lower dash on a Cavalier doesn't come off. You can remove the shroud around the upper part of the steering column (the box-thing) and you'll see two plugs on the left side of the column with large gauge wires coming from them. You should have enough room to tap into the brown wire; if not, you can unplug the plugs to give yourself a little more slack.
