Let's start by saying what features I need in the head unit. My first most used feature will be playback from USB flash drive, number two is playback from Bluetooth connection, third is CD, and fourth is FM radio. I would like a built in eq, if not I'll probably add in an audio pipe 9 channel eq. My speakers are a pair of 6.5" Alpine type R coaxial, a pair of 6.5" Alpine type R component, and a Alpine type R 10" sub. (Not a alpine fanboy, just like those speakers and want to try the sub.) This will be driven by an Alpine pdr-v75 5 channel amp. (Not an alpine fanboy but must have great >0.07%thd performance and this met the bill.) Any recommendations on a head unit? Any reason not to just buy the cheapest blaupunkt single din? If I get a single din is there a adapter for my double din 350z that can fit a half-din eq and the head unit? Space is limited in the car.

Ok. First of all.

Bluetooth has horrible sound quality. so tthats a no go. Most of all head units now have cd players built in as well as fm radio.

Audiopipe is a garbage brand and not worth your time.

Whats your budget for your overall system??

The audiopipe is a eq, the amp was an alpine 55 watt per channel. Then if I don't get an eq I need a head unit with 5+ preouts (6 probably) and I'm not sure what head unit to get. If I don't have an eq a parametric 3 channel one built into the head unit will not work, I need at least five, probably more.

I'm surprised nobody has recommended Pioneer DEH-80PRS yet, considering it's the forum boner HU. I don't recommend it for you. Since you will be using USB storage, a double DIN touch screen unit will make music browsing much more enjoyable.

Forget a 1/2 DIN EQ, that's outdated tech. I'd take a 3 band parametric EQ over a 5 band graphic EQ. What you're asking for in a head unit is very easy to find.

I was going to recommend a 80prs but you're right, probably unnecessary in this situation.

In response to @The Camry saying bluetooth SQ is bad, I listen to blue tooth for EVERYTHING and the SQ is pretty good... i also use 256kbps+ or flac which makes a difference in the total dynamic range of the track but bluetooth doesnt appear to degrade SQ to an extent that makes me think its worth taking away the wireless convenience.

any alpine, pioneer, jvc, kenwood, and some clarion headunits will work well for you just read up on the features and compare from there

Pioneer has attractive features but their AVH-X double DINs have been riddled with problems this year. Clarion has nice UIs but they're intentionally basic for sound tuning. Alpine, Kenwood, JVC, and Sony all have something to offer. Check reviews on Crutchfield.com.
