need help from those with TRUNKS

its hard to explain, i dont know how to explain it. but facing the sub into the cabin without sealing the trunk off (basicly making a wall out of the trunk) tends to not get very loud, and sounds muffled. which is why when you see subs firing into the cabin of the car, wether sealed or ported, they are always sealed off from the rear of the trunk.
well i dont really see why as long as they got a straight shot into the cabin. i dont really see how it would be any different from an open hatch in this situation.
but i dont think sealing off the trunk is an option either. at least not now. ive never walled anything, let alone something as irregular as a trunk. with all the components under the rear deck, its gotta be a real pain in the ***.

I know im amazing. But enough about me, whats ur grant idea?
Alarm? Motion sensored C4? That's all I can come up with, I'm drawing blanks.

Everyone's asking how to get louder with a sealed box. If you're wanting to get louder, sealed boxes and trunks dont really help you're situation at all. Turning your box etc. COULD make a slightly noticeable difference, but if youre set on staying with the sealed box, polyfill is something that should definately be taken into consideration.

OP, what size is your box for the Q's?

well, that is ridiculous to think facing your subs in a different direction would first of all, stop a thief from stealing them, and second of all somehow not letting someone hear it if you dont want people to know you have a stereo than can be stolen. get an alarm, and secure the box like a mofo to the trunk, as well as the amp. the most they could take would be the subs due to the alarm going off, and having to work fast. securing your box to the trunk will prevent them from taking it and running, leaving them to unscrew them. same with the amp, but amps are secured anyway and not just laying around. no high and mighty attitude at all, it was just common sense
Yeah, guess so man, but different screw heads (torx, hex, etc.) are a legit. idea

Well actually i was thinking of facing it towards the front and having the box screwed or bolted to the trunk so they'd have to go through the back seat and unscrew it. and mismatching the screws i mean like using crazy screw shapes that they wont be prepared for.
let me know if im just talking stupid.
oh thats what you meant about the screws. yea, that would help. good idea //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Edit: But then again i want the best Loudness and SQ i can get out of these, so id have to face the subs to the rear.
What are "these"?

Also, thieves have a tendency to start off in the cabin. :/

You're not happy w/ the output of those? lol

I've heard 2 12" Q's off of similar power in roughly ".9 cu ft sealed each" in a 07'ish 4 door Altima and that thing was wanging for 2 12"s sealed. With the seats down, it was to the point my gf didn't want to sit in it very long lol. Subs were facing the rear and the guy says he does 143's on music. It definately was more than enough for any daily driver setup haha.

I'm losing ideas if yours is all put together correctly and you're dissapointed. You did your box?

hmm gotten quote u two times.
Well not where i live. they go straight for getting the trunk open.by either taking that key hole off or pulling the trunk open. and if u got rims they're going for that. and what are the CHANCES of a thief opening up the rear seat looking for subs? unless they know how im facing them.
When you said "these", I didnt know if you were referring to a specific brand or not. What power are you working with?

trust me, i know what im doing when it comes to building a box and doing the install. the only thing im not really a "pro" at is deadening and car acoustics. im sure your buddy had all this figured out. i just got the Qs in like a month ago and this is my first trunk. the output sounds amazing, but i feel like it should be louder...even coming from 2 ported L7's in a hatch.

I didn't mean to come off as a dick there, sorry. I'm not doubting your skills at building boxes at all, I'm just running some ideas through my head. J/w, which is louder, the 2 Q's or the L7's?

well its 2 completely different setups. but the L7s in my blazer with 5 cubes net @ 38Hz and 0 deadening was MUCH louder than these Q's in the present setup. i still havent looked much into the issue as im a student so i can only work on it when i go home (like spring break last week). im just bouncing ideas and questions around on the forum so i have some ideas when i get a chance to really check things out.
