i think it would be best if only people with similar cars to mine answered this. i have am 03 accord coupe with fold down rear seats that open up into a decent sized trunk. im trying to figure out what the best positioning of my subs would be to get optimum output. right now the output is really low compared to my blazer's open hatch. ive had them facing the rear but just tonight i tried facing them to the right. havent tested it yet because i didnt feel like taking another drive after my 2 hour one back up to school. what do you guys find to be the best? front, rear, or side facing? (up isnt an option)

97 monte carlo (my car) face the sub towards the rear, as close to the back as possible for loudness. face them up and it adds a touch of quality to the bass. i have mine about 14 inches away from the very rear of my trunk, facing the rear. one 10, 450w, and almost at 140.

****, good job man.

even when mine slide to the rear, the outputs the same //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

try it to the side. i know its a totally different car but to the side works best in my hatch.
alright well see. i could see front facing (as far from rear as possible) being loud, but thatll require a little more work then simply rotating the box. hope the side works well.

Well i prefer sealed from the trunk personally as far as gaining output. But other than being sealed, I'd say rear firing sub/port approx 5-10" from a deadened trunk rear works the best in my car. As long as their is enough room around the box for the air/pressure to move freely. I was doing a 141.5 daily w/ 15" and 1krms tuned to 30hz w/ rear firing everything. 142.2 on burps.

Hope that helps.

what do you mean by sealed from the trunk?

i already have a sealed box, im not going ported because i dont have the space. theres def room for air to pass through the hole in the trunk with my box sitting there, but its only a few (3-6) inches on each side probably, not a TON of room. but like i said before, even when the box slides up, the outputs the same (even though theres much more room for air to pass)

Face it torwards the Cab. itll sound good from in side and out taking away most of that loud rattle ur trunks puting out.
yeah that makes sense. i was thinking when its faced rear, far more sound waves wont escape the trunk because they have further to travel and more obscure angles to bounce off of.

also, i just deadened the trunk this past week.

in my trunk had the subs facing forward port on drivers side and had the box all the way to the rear hatch. I didnt want to go threw the hassle of sealing the enclosure off at the rear seat.

egg

when its facing the rear the sound waves bounce, creating louder sound. think of it as an echo. yelling in a barren desert = no echo, yelling in a canyon = large echo. pretty much the same when facing your subwoofers. which is why its best to seal off the trunk when facing into the cabin, without doing so it would be like yelling inside a padded room. a bit of echo, but very muffled and not loud

Alright, I didnt realize you werent able to go ported. Sealed boxes, you can really only do so much lol. When I was running a sealed setup in my car, I dramatically lost output when I faced the subs towards the cabin. It just rattled the crap outta my trunk. I'd say try it facing sideways first, I know sideways ported using external aeros works GREAT in trunk cars as far as the TL goes, so why the heck not haha.
