need help for more clarity

Defiitely hook them up to an amp. Please read the gain setting write up linked in my sig.
i jus read your gain setting write up.... so that does that mean i dont have to use the crossover provided, i could use a 4ch amp to power both tweeters and mid-woofers?

You will still need to use the passive crossovers and you are limited to only using 2 amp channels since the Infinity Reference components are not biamp capable. You can use a 4 channel and with those speakers if you get an active crossover and take out the passives.

ok so lets say i get an 2-way active crossover. i can thow out the passive one that came w/ the infinity, hook up the tweeter and mid-woofer to the amp, and the amp to th crossover?????? one more thing i would need a 4ch amp to accomplish this this righ???? thanks

Why not kill 2 birds with one stone. Get a 4-channel with a crossover built in. I'd try them with the passives first, then if it didn't fit my needs look into going active.

scratch that previous amp..... what about a Profile AP1040

and one more question, if im going to run an active frontstage setup, will i be able to still have my rear speakers hoooked up???? i was thinking on how they will work if all of the channels on the amp will be used by the mid-woofers and tweeters

AP1040 is a great little amp.

and that amp has a crossover on it correct? therefore i dont need to get another crossover. correct me if im wrong please
Not enough frequency range to go active. You'll need a separate active crossover still.

There are only a small amount of decent amps available that have built-in crossovers that have enough frequency range to utilize as active.
