Need Help Finding a New Sub!

Ok, so just to let you guys know, I'm a newbie at car audio. I'm going to try my best to give you enough info to give you a picture on what i"m looking for.

Here's a little background info:

My mom got a new Chrysler 300c with a Boston Acoustics premium sound system and I was amazed at how clear the sound was for being car audio. Being a musician and being in studios, I am used to hearing music in very high quality and have always dreamed of having something close in my truck. I have just never had the extra money or time to look into upgrading my sound system. I am doing this for personal satisfaction and not to please others or turn heads. I just started researching and really getting interested right before Christmas. I have spent a pretty good amount of hours looking around on the net and have realized how much of a science all of this is and I need your help.

Now, here's what I'm working with so far:

Vehicle: '94 Ford Ranger STANDARD cab.

Components: Just bought some Pheonix Gold Rsd 6.5 components for the front staging. After doing some research I found that these were some of the best "bang for the buck" components considering I am on a budget. I'm pretty pleased overall. Not the best clarity in the midrange, amazing highs and lows though, but miles ahead of my old Pioneer 3-ways I bought from Circuit City about 8 years ago...lol.

Rear Fillers: Older Kenwood 6X9's. They're fillers...what can I say?

Amp: On the way!! Just bought an old RF 501x 4-ch on ebay for about $100 w/ shipping. Say's 545w RMS but says 1500w on the amp. Pretty sure it doesn't push 1500w, but I'm confused. Not sure if I got a good deal or if i got f***ed?

Ok, so enough of the background info etc....

Here's where I really need your help!!....

I am wanting to buy a sub to go behind the passenger seat of my truck. Just to remind you guys, I am still on a budget for now (still in school //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif). I don't want to spend more than $100, if at all possible, on 1 10" sub. After doing some research, I "THINK" that with a 4-ch amp, I can run my components on 2 channels and and bridge the other 2 channels to power a sub. If so, what sub would you suggest? Should it be a SVC or a DVC? Does it matter? What is the min/max RMS sub I should get? Does my amp even have enough to power my components and a sub? What would be the best way to wire the sub with my setup (series, parallel, 2/4 OHM)? Like I said before, I am not in it for the "thump". I just want a nice full and balanced sound in my truck, and even though the components put out a lot more bass than I imagined they would, it's just not as full and round of a sound on the bottom that I am looking for. BTW, I listen to just about every genre of music you can imagine, so I need a sub that is fairly versitile.

Sorry for the long @$$ post, but I just don't want to **** up. I would like to thank all of you for reading this and hopefully you will have some great feedback!! I am up for all suggestions, not just subs. Anyone found better comps for maybe a little more $$$? Hoping the amp will make a big difference.

Thanks again,

Ben

awesome sub dude dual 4 ohm so you can run each coil to 1 speaker out on the amp and get relly close to 300 or more to it and it only takes .5 cf //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and it will sound loads better than a 10 will //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

first i would suggest finding out how much space u got for a box. i have a truck as well, and so your very limited on space sometimes. depending on the mounting depth, and size box u can get determines what subs u can use.

if ur not really into that much bass, i would suggest the image dynamics id8. they say its one of the best sound quality subs and will go down in history. can be had for $120 brand new, im sure u can find used for cheaper.

if u want a 10", i am going with the Polk Audio MM1040 myself. it is supposed to have great sound quality, and get pretty loud at the same time. if you want just sound quality, they say the JL audio subs are good. jl 10w1, or jl 10w3 would be good choices.

not sure of the specs of ur amp, but u could push a sub and the components with them, just might not get all the power u want. but since u dont want tons of bass it should work great.

thats why i said the mbquart it has a 3" mounting depth and its a 12 it will stomp an id8 for output and go alot lower as well with less power and .5cf is tiny for a box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif pretty much a 15x15x6 box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well he wants quality, not more output. the image dynamic id8 says 150watts rms, which is nothing. and i bet the id 10" will beat that mb quart and sound way better with about the same power.
