Subwoofer.....That's' what this thread is about.

I have a 1999 BMW M Roadster. The M Roadster came with the upgraded audio system. The stock sub-woofer is an enclosed box with a horn to direct the sound. All of this sits between the seats of the car. There are two 5.25" speakers sitting opposite of each other with a reverse polarity on one set of the speakers.

I need some sort of sub-woofer type sound from two 5.25 speakers with a 65mm or 2.50"depth.

The link I've included shows in detail what I'm trying to replace. Right now I'm running a Hertz EV130 because they fit.

We did place a 10" sub-woofer box in the trunk just to see....I lost most of the truck. We also though of a 8" sub but the there's a canvas top, the top of the gas tank, and a rear bulk head between the truck and the cockpit. Cutting, fiber-glassing something new between the seats is out of the question. I have to work with what I have.....which is not a whole lot, I know that.

just a tad deeper than requested. however, just because it'll fit, doesn't mean it'll work well with that enclosure.

Knowing the enclosure size would help a lot. That way you can model up some drivers with winISD
I'll provide you with any pictures to scale you need. Do you need the internal h, w, d? If so, I'll include that new a pic with the others I've already put up on the link. I don't know what winISD is.

Well it looks like it would be 2.5D, 5"W and 10 1/4"L...........does this help? Pictures 9, 10, 11. Thanks for the link to winISD.....still don't know what it's for or how to use it. I'm guessing all those numbers I see listed with speakers have something to do with how the speaker performs. How all those numbers and what I'm looking for work together would just be a guess on my part. I'll have to leave that information up to your expertize.

fuuuuuuuu

dang man hmmmm try find a set of jl mids mine had nice bass response
Ah ha....judging from you reply I'm guessing you understand that this simple request is not so simple. I've been to Parts-Express, MadiSound and now Speaker City. The Dayton Audio Da135-8 speakers I ordered from Parts-Express will be going back tomorrow. They say 5 1/4 but the screw holes are way off. It appears that the cage is a good 1" smaller. The DA speakers are the last picture in the Picasa link I've been including in this thread. I didn't know that 5 1/4 does not mean 5 1/4.

What JL mids are you referring to?

I sent emails and pictures to Part-Express, Madisound, and Speaker City asking if they could recommend some speakers for this sub-woofer box. Madisound replied with a pair of Morel MW144. Wow......for there size 5" these they appear to be quite impressive. Like I said previously, I'm not a speaker design guy. I don't know what all the numbers listed with the speaker means. All I can do is look at the frequency which is 35hz-5000 and say Wow.
