need help figuring out whats wrong with my head unit....

I just got a new pioneer head unit for my car. It is a avh-p6400cd. I hooked everything up correctly and the power turns on and eveything functions, but there is no sound. No sound for the tuner the cd or anything. If anyone knows what i could do to fix this please let me know. Thanks

Stupid question, but did you hook the actual SPEAKERS up? Sorry for the dumb questions, be it's always possible to overlook the obvious.
