Which amp

So my current setup, which im giving to a buddy, is being played with a little currently. I am running Infinity 1250w 12' on Infinity Reference 311a . He got an amp from a buddy, Sony xplod 250w . Just wondering which amp would power the sub better. Hooked it up to the Sony (and put the sub in a bigger, ported box) And it hit a lot harder. Though I wonder if it's pushing that wimpy sony too hard.

Also I did try the sub in that ported box on the infinity amp.

Yeah, but the sony amp, i assume, is lower quality. I've never gotten that infinity amp warm, and the sony amp warmed up a little after using it.

Sony might be A/B. Neither are good quality.

Can't say. I would have to hear them myself. Older Sony stuff was pretty good. Which one is it?

Well there is your problem. How are you wired? The infinity does power at 2ohm the Sony at 4. If you have the Sony bridged at 2 it's going to cook it but make power till it dies. If the infinity is at 4 it's not making much at all

The sub is a single 4 ohm coil, i have it wired at 4 ohms.

The Sony is doubling what the infinity will do. So in this case the Sony would win power wise. Sound.. That's up to your ears

I think the sony sounds better, I was just wondering about it getting warm. Using just A to B trips in the truck, home to school or to work.
