Need help deciding on subs and amp!!

If you're willing to spend the $500:
One of these: WoofersEtc.com - FD 600.1 - ARC Audio 1 Channel 620 Watt Amplifier ($270)

Three of these: WoofersEtc.com - RWE-202 - MB Quart 8" 300 Watt DVC Subwoofer ($150)

This: 4 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit ($46)

Building your enclosure will float you a hair over the $500, but you'll have nice equipment that's worthy of building around in the end. Compromises must sometimes be made if you want nice things.

When you get a little more cash you could pick up the Arc FD 2100 ($99), a pair of Crescendo CCX65's ($99) and the extra wiring & such that you'd need.

I think that's a good direction to go in. It's what I'd do if I was in the OP's shoes.
I like my route better. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/boink.gif.91933e72f927f2cefc79aff02573090c.gif

Not everyone wants to buy gear, upgrade, over & over. One of my friends has 2 10'' RF P1's sealed & a 250w JL amp....happy as can be.

He's gonna be $100 + over ....without any sound deadening, & a substage that completely drowns out his speakers.

Where do you get $100 from, bob? Dude said he has $500. The equipment I linked is $466 before shipping (and some of the prices may even include s&h, I don't know woofersetc' policy). Let's say it does cost right at $500 after shipping, he could build an enclosure for the price of a sheet of wood, some glue and carpet ($45 is stretchin' it).

The stuff I linked is infinitely better than the stuff you showed him. Plain & simple...and with another $250-ish investment later on down the road he could have matching high end amplifiers and 2-way seperates for his front stage. It's fantastic for the money.

justa thought here. that Arc amp is actually 20rms less at 1ohm than it is at 2 ohm. so, why run it at 1ohm in this case? why not get the subs in d2? depending how hard money is to come by, he could buy just 1 sub for now, run it 4ohms by itself, then later he can pick up another one and run it 2ohms not haveing to change anything but the box.

gotta love some FOOSE

- I recommended a pair of 4 ohm svc Dcons (a pair would be 2 ohms).

- The MB Quarts I linked are 2 ohm dvc (three would be 1.33 ohms).

Foose has nothing to do with that amp being nice. It's a nice amplifier becaue it was designed by Robert Zeff.

And let's not use logic here, man. Buying junk NOW is better than buying great equipment later...

well guys thats a heated argument there. So i guess what i was looking at isnt any good? and do i really have to upgrade the big three? and 8in dont get as low frequency response as 10's or 12's do right? just making sure here. and yes i would like to get the best for my buck, and i think ill upgrade interior speakers again later and deck, but keep the subs the same.

o and i want to be around $500 with everything, amp, subs, box, installation kit. i personally dont want to build my own box, unless you think i should.

ARC is 1 of the best amps you can buy

if you have those amps still in 15 yrs they will be worth 3 times what you paid now....

the crunch amp ( I sell crunch ) is only 350 rms at 4 ohms bridged... or 175x2 at 2 ohms stereo... great budget amp but i would take anything ARC over anything Maxxsonics all day if the price was comparable...

and don't ever listen to Saget man... the dude is 22 and has never even had a system.... all he knows is what he reads on google or here.. thats it...

those MBQ 8" subs will blow your mind... not an sa8 by any means but they get down low as hell and are amazingly clean..

if i was in your shoes on limited funds and space i would do just that...

you will get around 200 rms per sub which is plenty for them... they will take 450 but you dont need it.

MB Quart subs, Arc Audio amp, & shipping............ $440

What does he do with the remaining $60?

Deaden his vehicle, upgrade his Big 3, buy the amp wiring kit, or have a box built? Can't get but 1 of 4 with $60. The layout I gave him would allow for a complete system.

Not everyone wants to build their own box. Some people don't have the tools, time, or know how. Maybe the reason I recommended the budget Crunch amp was because it fit within his budget. Not everyone has the money, or wants to spend the money, for top gear. Just like most other people on here you & misfit take the guys MAXIMUM budget & use it on a sub/amp combo alone. $400 is what he wants to spend, but he can go up to $500. So you're say inghis best option is to spend $40 over what his budget is on subs/amp alone? He still has to pay someone to build a box, buy a wiring kit, upgrade his Big 3, & deaden his car.....For what I recommended within his budget.....& for the money what I recommended would sound good.

You guys should learn what a budget is before trying to give advice on here.
