Hey there knowledgeable members of car audio.
I am planning on getting my first setup of aftermarket kit.
With a limited small amount of experience (i am i n00b so be gentle lol) and even less of a budget, I have come up with this:
And need to decide between these:
OR
As you can see already, I am not aiming for nosebleed causing bass or volume, just something cheap that will work better than the current stock (dying) set up in my '99 Yaris. Head unit is a sony something - cant remember the model no. but I know it has 50W x 4 output...
I have a few questions here,
I do apologise for the long post, but I really need some help and direction here! Constructive comments will be greatly appreciated too.
Thanks in advance!

With a limited small amount of experience (i am i n00b so be gentle lol) and even less of a budget, I have come up with this:
- Active Sub (built in amp) -EDGE EDB10 10" V2 Active Subwoofer / Sub & Amp 750W 2014 Model (around £70/80)
And need to decide between these:
- JBL GT6-6 6.5 INCH/16.5CM 45W RMS 2-Way COAXIAL CAR DOOR SPEAKERS (£25 for a pair)
OR
- Pioneer TS-G1723i 17cm 3-Way Coaxial Cone Speakers 40W RMS (£32 for a pair)
As you can see already, I am not aiming for nosebleed causing bass or volume, just something cheap that will work better than the current stock (dying) set up in my '99 Yaris. Head unit is a sony something - cant remember the model no. but I know it has 50W x 4 output...
I have a few questions here,
- Is the subwoofer worth spending that much for? i.e. I am aware there are slightly more pricey active subs out there, but does anyone have experience using this sub? amazon reviews seem to say it works which makes me feel its suitable for my use. there are also some cheaper ones (FLI/Fusion etc) that might do the same job for slightly less?.. Please advise...
- Between the two coaxial speakers, The pioneers are slightly more pricey which I wouldnt mind, as long as theyre worth it - being 3 way coaxial? also does the 5W RMS difference matter? I can also get the JBLs as a set of 4 (2 pairs) for £50 which makes it £14 cheaper than the pioneers if I end up getting 2 pairs (£32x2).. Is it worth the extra £14? OR would a mix of the two be okay? (for dash and car doors). Alternatively if anyone feels these are choices I should avoid and can point me to more suitable ones, that would be mega appreciated too!!!
- Would I need another head unit to fit my subwoofer? Not sure if head units have specific subwoofer outputs, quite frankly never seen the back of my head unit (sorry!!)
