need help choosing sub

I have an alpine 500w mono block amp

Id like to know what is a good 10'' sub that will go with my amp.

I bought the 10" kicker 2ohm that best buy sells, I think the sub can't handle the amp because it heats up for some songs and you smell the wires heating up.

Which Kicker was it? The Comp (black and yellow) or the CR (the new greyish and white ones)? I'd get a Soundqubed hds200 or hds300. The 200 is 85 bucks shipped and rated for 600 rms and the 300 is 139 shipped and rated for 1200 rms. Either one will laugh at the Alpine and put either Kicker sub to shame.

Prolly clipping the amp. And sub. Your smelling the coils Gain to high. Power and ground wires to small not enough battery juice. Or all the above
