Need help Buying a head unit

when it comes to car audio i have no idea. i was wondering what should i look for when buying a car deck. i willing to spend up to $300. I'm trying to avoid buying a new ipod because i have the iphone. so basically I'm looking for a good stereo that is compatible with my iphone and is under $300.

I'd wait for the new Kenwood 9 series, 992 I THINK. Or the Alpine 9886 is pretty sweet. I know the Alpine works with your phone, I don't know about the Kenwood though.
