My DD mids went out and im looking for a good sound quality mids that get loud and that can handle my SA 125.2...my doors are kinda slim so it cuts my range down a bit. I believe the deepest I can go is 2.75 and i would like something thats really detailed without being too bright. My budget would prolly be around 100-200 max.

Would it be better just to go with a whole new comp set??? I didnt know how it would be using the same xover.
I'm not to sure about replacing the mid with an already set passive xover. I know with the tweeter you get an impedance sweep and find a driver with the same characteristics (i.e. nominal impedance, resonant frequency)

Maybe someone here knows more about replacing the mid (or you could ask a tech at parts express)

I see it being hit or miss. You might get lucky but idk if I'd chance it. you might want to look into getting another comp set or trying active.....

Well i dont think i know enough about active to go active....Im just not sure what comp set i could get. You do all the thread reading and and listening to what ppl say and it still doesnt help that much cause of most of it being personal preference. I liked how my DD comps were but they just didnt seem to get loud enough. The way my doors are and how far down the mids are i need something that doesnt get drown out by all the road noise that my Z has.

you could always go about blocking the road noise with sound barriers in your door or floor.

but as far as comps, whats your budget?

I'd say try the HAT Imagines. They have been the SQ boner for a while here. I did some more research on em and they seem very nice. Theyre right around 250 new. Convertible coaxial type deal, but I'd just run em coaxial in your car.

Also the Boston Acoustics SR60 Comp Set. I have the SR coaxials on my golf cart with 100rms to each speaker and they get loud and wont distort for anything.

To get good midbass from either set you'll need to properly seal and deaden your doors though.

I also know a guy over on DIYMA who's trying to clear out some stuff, I'm gonna txt him and see what comps he has for sale. I know he has some old school Diamond Hex's, gonna see what else

Just scanned this, but the "existing" crossover on our Z's non-bose stock speakers are a cap on the tweeters. (if that). The mid in the door is fed full range.

How are you getting 2.75 inches? I cannibalized the stock speakers to make some nice spacers and still only have a hair over 2" mounting depth before the window becomes an issue.

he already had an upgraded comp set I believe and blew the mid from that set.
