Need gain setting tips!

Okay so i set my gain with a DDM and i had my deck bass set at 0 and my subwoofer set at 15(max) then i set my gain, is this right? Also after i set my gain can i turn my bass up on the amp?

ALpine MRP-M1000 Amp

(2) Type R 2 Ohm (wired at 2 ohm in series)

ALpine CDA-100 I believe

Set your gains flat, that is, with everything at zero. Don't turn up your sub and then set your gain.

set my Gain with a DDM and used a 50hz -3db tone and i was bumpin' it for about 45mins these subs have been in use for about 20-25 hours and when i felt the subs they were not warm but they smelled tangy when i put my face by the port? Chipping?

keep the bass boost all the way down on the amp gain shouldnt go over 3/4
