Hello all. So first post but I've been reading for weeks now. I currently have 2 Kicker Comp S 10 inch in my car now. I'm fairly new to car audio and have been slowly putting my car audio together for the last few months. Have a 2011 Altima sedan with the subs rear firing in trunk. Usually just leave half of my back seat layer down. My HU is a Kenwood DDX394 and i have Kicker KS series 6.5 coaxial I'm my front doors with 90rms to each. Stock 6x9's I'm my rear deck and stock tweeter in my dash. I'm really not happy with my subs now. I have learned that the enclosure makes a huge difference but my question is Will these subs really improve SQ with a built enclosure or should I scrap the Kickers and go for some different subs? I would like to stay around the same size enclosure to keep some trunk space. I would really like to get a fuller sound from them. Have the cross in my deck at 120hz with a 12db slope. No bass boost used at all.

Thanks in advance!

better subs will help better amp also not a bad idea.. if u want louder/deeper go with 12's if u want louder than that go to ported box but if u don't wanta give up much trunk space u gotta stick with sealed or do what i did 1 12 ported, since u don't listen to rap u won't need a low tuned box u can even get a prefab ported box (that peeps here never recommend) i have one ($70) and it may work for u but u could even go with 1 tuned higher if u never listen to real deep bass,., idk about that amp power wise also does it has ss filter?, u will need one if porting a box., if u want cheap good subs get 1 like mine pioneer 3003 pro 470 on ebay 1 will eat both your comps easy rated 600rms i'm running 930rm to mine tuned at 35hz u could go to like 37, some of the qbomb boxes are tuned to like 42hz thats a tad high but never know for u may work well (if u get box with side port make sure port has room for air to get out) my amp is also pretty nice very strong on ebay $149 i think.. if u wanta stay sealed u can get 2 3003 pros and dual sealed 12 box $48 ebay will sound much better than the comps especially if u get another amp..

Yes a box makes that much of a difference.

That prefab is more then likely half the size it says.

Port then with 1.25 cubes each. Tune at 35hz with 19sq inches of port.

If you can't give up that much then go to a single 12 ported.

couldn't find the xmax on those subs but if u stay sealed u can get 2 of many brands 12's in the 300-600 rms range with more excursion, in sealed box more xmax is your friend, also s/n the pioneer i have has 96db so simply louder with same power have 13.6mm xmax.. but u can get some 12's in the $200 or under range with 16-19 mm.. some sealed prefabs are ok if 3/4" mdf and u make sure u get right airspace.. cheapest thing to do is get ported box for the comps it'll be louder no doubt but u will still have comps and that amp, i'd start looking at changing that 1 step at a time., swap amp or subs, then amp then find or build good ported, like i said u can do 1 12 ported be louder than what u have for sure..

Thanks for the replies! Bout decided to get 2 12's in a ported box since I do have a sedan.
two soundqubed hds 208s in a CSCStang designed T line box.

We both him and I are metal heads bud and seriously I wouldn't bother with ported or sealed at all. It'll never get you that sound you need for metal. What that means is the output and bandwidth in the upper bass down to the lower registries.

Why 8s? because a T line for 10s and 12s will not absolutely not fit Thats the tradeoff. The box will be giant but it'll be louder and 10x better sounding than what you have right now. Lets just say, you'll smoke people with 8s playing metal while their 12s play bass heavy rap.

On a side note, your audiobahn amp is blatantly lying to your via their marketing team. Thats a 600 rms amp at 1 ohm at best (very very very very optimistically) based on fuse rating however based on the amp size and design actual real world watts is more like 250 at 1 ohm. Before anything i'd swap out to a better amp.

This is what the T line box can do on only 400 watts total.
