does it matter what type of enclosure you choose for the sub to sound good?

i am planning on getting 1 12" pioneer tsw-306c and on sounddomain specs for that sub, it says that a ported box isnt recommended. does it really matter if it says that because it seems like everyone has ported boxes and it seems to be the better way to go.

what would happen if you put a sub into a wrong type of box?

any help is appreciated!! THANKS!!

Yes it definitely matters. Always go with the specs from the sub's maker.

A sealed box gives you that tight bass and will give you the most accurate reproduction of the low freq's but need more power, while a ported box gives you the louder and more boomy low end .

Where your sub is going to be really dictates which way you go.If it's going to be in your trunk I'd go with a ported box but if you've got a truck or suv I'd go with a sealed enclosure.

Putting a sub in the wrong enclosure means you won't get the best performance out of the sub that you could.
