i have two 4 ohm SVC subs and i would like to wire them to 2 ohms. I would wire them in parallel correct? Which would just be positive of the first to positive of the second then that to the positive on the amp and likewise with the negative? Also there is a red wire and a red wire w/ a black stripe. The just red one is negative correct?

If you run 1 per channel. If you bridge the amp to 1 channel, no

So run them 1 per channel.

i have a monsoon sound system with an amp in the trunk that powers the speakers or somethin i think... if i run the subs on seperate channels and take that other amp out, will the speakers no longer work?

If you take out your factory amp then yes I'd think your speakers are no longer gonna work. Not familliar w/ the monsoon systwm though, sure some others on here have replaced the factory amp in one.

if i wired those 2 subs in series what would the impedance be? could i wire those to one channel and the speakers to another?
Are you trying to hook the subs up to your factory amp (not a good idea), or do you have a seperate 2 channel amp? you could wire the 2 subs together @either 4 or 1 ohms. & no that wouldn't work.

Correct, that will give you 2ohms per sub. But if you wire both subs together to 1 channel thats a 1 ohm load.
so you are telling the OP that 2 single 4Ω voice coil subs will wire down to a 1Ω load if done on 1 channel? read is a 4 letter dirty word.

Wait so what will they wire down to on one channel? And no I have a seperate 2 channel amp and I would like to not have to re wire the speakers so that is why I want to wire the subs on one channel and the speakers on one, if possible.

so you have a 2 channel amp and you want to use one channel for the subs and one channel for the speakers. so how do you expect to control what frequencies go to the subs and what frequencies go to your speakers? just get another amp to push your subs that can be wired down to 2 ohms and make it easy on yourself.

well im a noob so i didnt think of that. what if i wired each sub to one channel and left the other amp powering the speakers. possible?

oh and the 2 channel amp IS bridgeable so i could wire the subs that way as well

possible, yes. reasonable, no. you'll spend $100-300 on a processor to allow you to do that safely and not nearly be as satisfied as you would if you were to just put the amp you have on your speakers and get a nice monoblock amp that will wire down to 2 ohms.
