need cheap-o 6 1/2 speakers for subaru

ok well i figure will im gettin some new subs ill go ahead and replace my front speakers

although i couldent take the door thingy off i can kinda see the speaker behind the grill and i measured it and it came out to about 6 inches and its a circle so i assume its 6 1/2 , im already spending mad loot on my system so i dont want to spend more than 50 , id rather just pick up some cheapo 15 dollar speakers what do yall think?

get high/mid over bass.

if you get giant subs, and dont upgrade the rest of the system, youll be like those people that george lopez was talking about.

^ word. you aint gonna be hearing nothing.

i wouldn't go $15 dollars cheap on components. thats just my opinion. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Like others have said, you should be able to go on eBay and pick up an alright said of 6.5"s for $50 or so. If you bump your spending limit up to $75, you should be able to get a fairly decent pair of speakers. Not great, but pretty decent.

components are two speakers (one mid, one tweeter) that are run off of one channel of speaker wire

coaxials are two speakers like the components, but have the tweeter mounted inside the midrange speaker which makes for an easier install, but worse fidelity

want good cheap speakers? buy something used: post in the for sale forum

Now that I've re-read your original post, go to http://www.crutchfield.com and enter your car's information to see what fits in your doors. You said around 6". That could mean anything between 5 1/4" and 6 3/4". Removing your door panels should be fairly simple. Find all the screws and remove them. Then firmly, but carefully, pull around the edges to pop out the clips. Alot of other posters can help you with more specific instructions if you let them know what kinda car you have.

What kind of music do you listen to? If you listen to primarily rock, you would greatly benefit from some quality mid-range speakers. If you listen to primarily rap, you could get by with some cheaper options. The more complex the music you listen to, the more important your midrange speakers become.

Unless you listen to nothing but rap, don't make the mistake of sinking your entire budget into subs and amps for the subs. You'll have a much better all-around system if you spread your budget around to include some quality components.

Don't be afraid to ask questions. Sometimes you'll look stupid (I do it all the time), but it's best to ask the questions, get the answers, and look stupid doing it than to screw something up and cost yourself alot of money down the road.
