Need cell phone help!

I have an LG 1400i phone and it has infrared but I have no clue what that is. Can someon explain this to me? Is it like bluetooth in anyway? Also, is there anyway to get music ringtones onto my phone? Thanks in advance!

Its to transfer files immedietly between a phone near you with the two infrared ports facing eachother. Its useless, as is bluetooth. Bluetooth is essentially just a more powerful infrared in ways, just due to range and what its used for.

Your service provider should offer programs for downloading songs. Otherwise, there are some tricks on http://www.howardforums.com but not sure about your phone.

Say I was to buy another phone off the net, would using the new phone simply be a matter of just swapping out my sim card??

Yes, just make sure the new phone is unlocked or branded to your carrier.

How can I tell if it's branded to my carrier? As long as it's unlocked does it matter?

if its unlocked it won't matter, but you'll know if its branded if it is from your carrier
