Ok, heres the situation, im currently driving a old standard cab dodge ram with 6 re 8's in a 3.5 cu ported box ran off a hifo 1000d at ~ 1.3 ohms tuned to 32 hz
the box is a shallow triangle shape with 2 4" ports
Well very soon I'll pay the insurence and get my 1992 ssei supercharged bonneville on the road
so i'm stuck with the delema, what would be the cheapest way to get very good sq while still getting rediculously loud.
my 8's get desent sq while getting mildly loud(blurs vision) and i already have 6 of them, so i was thinking get 2 more
my idea for the box is .75 cu foot per each 8 (6 cu internal total) and tune the whole thing to 28~30 hz, i dont mind the 32 hz tuning, but on some songs i feel that the low end is a bit lacking, might be due to the 8" drivers
I would like to keep my 1000d, however in my truck I'm not sure if its getting all the amps it needs, my amp gage dances around ALOT!! at high volume, and the alternator on my car doesn't look any bigger than my trucks...
I like the pepy feeling of 8's and from the people that i talk to, the bigger the sub, the less pepy it feels due to the heavy cone.
is there any kind of special box i can make that would make my current system hit harder and sound better in my car?
what do you think?
