--I recently came across a good deal on an MA Audio HK12 1500 watt RMS subwoofer. This is my first time building my own box and I'm hoping I get it right. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

It's hard to find information out there for this sub, but I've gathered all the details I could and I'm hoping someone here can give me some insight on how to go about this.

Features:

MA Audio HK12 DVC Subwoofer

3000 Watts Power Handling

1500 Watts RMS Power Handling

400 Oz. Double Stacked Strontium Magnets

Aluminum Round Wire Voice Coil

Hi-Temp Kapton Voice Coil Former

Patented Thermo-Cooling Motor Structure

Bumped Back Plate for Max Excursion

High Roll Triple Layer Ribbed Surround

Double Layer Progressive Spiders

Dual Layer Pressed Carbon Fiber Cone

Ultra Strong Carbon Fiber Dust Cap

Rubber Sealant Gasket

Specifications:

Sensitivity: 88.9 dB@ 1w/1m

Impedance: Dual 2 Ohm Voice Coils

Diameter: 12"

Mounting Depth 8"

Mounting Diameter 11"

Vented Box: 3.0 cu/ft

Port: 48 sq/in 14.5" Long

Sealed Box: 1.5-2.25 cu/ft

I want to do a ported box for my Jeep Cherokee. There's plenty of room in the back, so size shouldn't be an issue, and I have a 1200 watt amp for this too. Any help would be greatly appreciated! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and as far as sound preference goes, loud and clean!
I have had that sub. First off, Its quite the sloppy bass. Why? Its a competition, SPL subwoofer, and only is good for high notes.

Secondly, the softparts inside of it ****, the surround wears down very quickly, and the sub has really thin coil. It sucks, save your money on something else.

But don't get me wrong, that thing does slam.

^ that's what I'm saying! I just went to the local audio shop and they said MA recommends a 3.0 box, which I already knew, but I was trying to compensate for the size of the sub itself by building a 3.25-3.5 cu ft box, but apparently MA already does that and a 3.0 will work fine.
How about this one:

??? I'm too antsy, might just order it and get it in.......
If your getting a prefab, which is yuck IMO, get one tuned to 32, cause that bish will slam the low notes.
