Need box design for hdc3 15" home theater

An Fs of 30Hz for a 15" is not terribly low.

And it's DD...I've yet to hear anything from them that makes music //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

well since you know better than others.

what sub would best suit me can be from 500-1000rms i would prefer a 15" for around $250-280? also that wouldnt require a 10 cube ported box

You ideally want something with an FS below20 hz. The easiest way to get deep extension is a large low tuned enclosure. I would check out some of the Dayton's on Parts Express. The Titanic 15" or Reference HO 15" sub would work well and should take near 1000 watts. They are all less than $200. You may also want to check for any TC-1000 or similar drivers for sale. These work well for home audio also.

Also keep in mind that you do NOT want to fire the subwoofer down unless it is specifically designed for it. Subs for home audio tend to have more compliant suspension and/or heavier cones to achieve lower FS values and aren't designed for downward or upward firing. This will affect the output and performance and over time can lead to "driver sag".

look at the daytons on parts express. i have a dayton reference 10 ho in my car. and when it comes time to build a new home theater sub i will get a dayton 12" or 15" on about 500-1000 watts rms. my home theater sub actually took a shit today. the amp stopped working.

They are selling the Dayton 15" Quatros for $72 each on sale right now. If you had the floor space I would build (2) 2x15s in a stereo setup. That should pound hard for under $300 for the drivers. Give each sub about 5-6 cubes and tune it around 20-22 hz.

I like this idea...a lot more //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

RL-P's work VERY nicely for HT subs. I run 2 15's and it's enough to shake the house to death.

Also the "new" Exodus Audio Tempest would be nice. I used to run 4 of the old Tempests and they were nice for music and HT.
