Need an honest amp opinion...

Ok, so I just purchased an IDQ10v3 yesterday. The dilemma I am, and am always, having is I've never heard a subwoofer setup below 1000w RMS. I'm worried that anything below this won't be loud enough to even make a significant audio difference.

The subwoofer is rated for 50 - 500 watts RMS. The amps I am looking for range from 300 - 500 rms.

I am looking at the JL XD700/5 ($400) and the HD900/5 ($800). I need a tiny 5ch, hence these two options.

I am definitely trying to stick with the cheaper option, but I'm worried the XD's 300watts won't be enough for my Jeep Cherokee.

I am looking for a nice bass fill, nothing super loud, just nice sounding. Accurate reproduction. Do you guys think 300w would do the job in a small sized SUV?

I definitely did. I like the nine.5, which is discontinued, and the Memphis Belle is awesome. The problem is, THEY ARE FREAKING HUGE!

I'm going with something that can fit under a seat, so I can have all my cargo space. I already have a custom box coming that takes up 0 cargo space.

Cargo space is a premium for me, since that's the whole purpose for me having this suv.

Gotcha. I'd go with the HD then. I'm sure someone else will have some smaller options. Sorry I couldnt be more help.

No problem man. You helped anyway.. That's one vote for HD. Just means I'll have to save longer.

The only other small 5 channel, from what I consider a respectable brand, is the Alpine PDX-5. I'm liking what I hear about the JL's more though.

That alpine amp isnt going to give you the power you are looking for. What is the make model of your SUV?

I agree with you, the Alpine isn't going to work out. They recently revamped their PDX line, and I expected a new 5ch. Never happend.

I have a 1997 Jeep Cherokee. (Not Grand Cherokee)

I'm curious to see what 300 watts will do in an SUV, considering the sound waves don't have to travel through rear seats, like in a sedan/coupe, assuming trunk subwoofer placement.. On the other hand, it kills me not to get the most of the RMS rating.
