Need an audiophile-grade headphone amp for your nice 'phones?

lol,

i have no idea where to get the parts to build one of them, not to mention the need for it. i guess i would like to have an amp for my Senn 570's thouhgh.

how much would somthing like that cost :squints:

Good power/output transformers are always going to be the most expensive parts on these sorts of things...because otherwise, you'd just be listening to 60Hz rectified AC //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif The trannys often determine the frequency response and overall sound, so you need good ones. The ones that he used for that were Sowters, which are UK-built trannys of high quality. Might be over $100 in just those parts. US-made ones that are decent include Hammond, Magnaquest and Electra-Print.

Everything else is cake, though...wire is cheap, the caps are cheap, and those tubes aren't as expensive as you might think. Less if you don't need really rare NOS varities, like were shown.

nice link jack, been thinkin about finishing up my amp over the next few weeks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
