need an amp

Im looking to get a system for my car and Im thinking of getting 2 alpine type S 10" (just something to start off with) I havnt picked a headunit yet, just need something that plays mp3s and that is ipod compatible. But on to the amp, I want a mono amp but not sure what, something with power but one thats not going to brake the bank (no more than $400) maybe someone could help me with this, that would be great

yes i plan to install it myself and I know that i need boxes for the subs iv help friends install theres so i know a little bit about the whole car audio thing. I was thinking of about $700
