Hey folks,
The amp on my factory Nissan Frontier (04) Rockford Fosgate system recently blew out. It was a 300 watt amp. I would like to replace it with an aftermarket amp, but have been quickly overwhelmed with information. I want something that is mid-range in quality. It doesn't need to be so powerful as to be heard in the next county. I'm more interested in clarity than raw power.
The current setup is a factory panasonic 6 disc in dash changer, the rockford fosgate amp, and 5 channels. The front and rear door speakers are McIntosh 8 Ohm 2 way 6.5" speakers. The two A pillar Mcintosh tweeters are run off the same channels as the front door speakers. The sub is a Rockford Fosgate 8". I'm unsure of the individual wattage of the existing speakers, but the existing system had to be turned above halfway to make it thump.
I would like to keep the factory HU, as I make use of the 6 disc functionality. Why doesn't anyone make aftermarket 6 disk in-dash changers?
Any recommendations on a 5 or 6 channel amp? Brand or model? Crutchfield recommended the Blaupunkt THA555PnP digital amp since clarity was a concern. I'm unsure of the motives (is it really a good amp, or are they trying to move a new introduction amp).
There's alot of information out there for a newbie to be confused about. I don't want/need to become an expert, just knowledgable enough to pick a middle of the road system that I can enjoy.
Thanks,
Michael
