Hi guys, after lurking thru the site and catching up on the audio industry. So i decided to hook up my JL audio which was given to me by a friend.

I need help in deciding which amp to purchase. I dont want to spend no more than $200 for a amp, but if its recommended for me to spend a little more than thats not a problem. I'm still deciding if i should go with 2 JL's or 1. I might go with 1 just to save space. I have a 05 Accord V6.

I was thinking of getting:

Autotek SM1-1500

I think you guys will recomment for me to go for the:

Autotek SS1500.1D

SQ or SPL...it doesn't matter to me, I just want some bang....its been to long since i last had a system.

Thanks all for your input, i really appreciate it!!!

Excuse me for my dumbness....Ok, maybe this is to simple for anyone to anwser but I'm confused about the ohms that the woofer has. Its is a 6 ohms woofer and i can wire it to 3 ohms so i went ahead and purchase the autotek ss 1900.1D and its rated at 4, 2, 1 ohms.

I decided to hook up only 1 speaker instead of 2, will this amp still be able to push the woofer eventho it is a 3 ohm and the amp is rated at 1,2,4 ohms? Or do i need to get another amp? Sorry for my ignorance!!!

it is stable 1 ohm + so you should be fine. I guess they're just marketed that way to make it easier to select for the layman. Otherwise they'd pass up the 1 ohm rated amp for the one that says it's 2 ohm rated. 3 just isn't a common ohm for it to be marketed.

However, you just bought an amp that is about triple the power rating of your 1 JL 15. Unless it is a W6v2? The W6 is rated at only 400 RMS. That amp at 3 ohm will push about 1250RMS. And if you wire both together for 1 ohm then you have 1900RMS on the amp. Overkill //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'd read up on the gain tutorial section here. It'll be very important for you to not set your gain above what that sub can handle.

With the sub being only 400RMS I don't know if 1 15 will do what you'd desire. Only one way to find out, though. You definitely have the head room in the amp to get a single 15 that's rated at 1000RMS. I think you'd like the sound of that. That's what I run, a single RD 15 Elite 1000RMS on a Memphis ST1500d
