Need advise on system

Hello, I'm new to the board. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm putting together a system for my car. I have a 98 Camaro Z28 and the components I've decided on are a JL Audio Slash 500/1 amp for my 2 twelves, a 300/4 amp for my components.

My questions are this, will I need a second battery to run this right and what component speakers would you recommend? The JL Audios seem to run quite a bit of money so I was thinking of other brands. Also what would fit good in the factory speaker locations? Should I get seperates or coaxials? Thanks for any help and nice to meet you all!

bump.

I hope I put this in the right forum, I'm a newbie here just looking for some help. Anyone?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

comps are better... I believe that cameros take 6.5's and 6.5's in the back.

I'll have to double check. I'm also selling a Kicker ZX350.4 which puts out a sufficient amount if power.

6.5S or 6.75", lots of people use Alpine Type S in these

sail panels are for stock subs, same size... Personally, I recommend not using them at all with real subs in the back. But if you do use them, you'll need to run your own wires or pull the wires from the stock hatch speakers up there.

I'm thinking about using the door panels obviously, and the 2 speakers on the sides of the rear seat and not the back. The subs will be back in the well.

Edit: Any idea on the battery situation? Can I use whats in there right now or will I need more?

for the 500 you wont need a second battery just get a yellow top up front you will be fine. when you start to push 1500rms or more then start to look to up grade things. for instance i had a hifonics bxi2006 on stock electrical. no probs. then i got a hifonics colossus and needed to get a 200amp high out put alternator, yellow top up front and a ed 1700 in the back, now i have a goliath and i have the 1700 up front and 2 kenitik hc2400s in the back with 4 runs of 0 Guage wire //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

get a yellow top up front thats all
Whats a yellow top?

And dragon, thanx for clarifying what the sail panel speakers were. You recommend putting the 6.5's in the back speaker locations?

Thanx again to anyone who chimed in here, its been much appreciated! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/toast.gif.bc0657bf54b9ee653b6438524461341e.gif

optima yellow top. its a deep cycle battery that is used for sound systems. it can take more abuse than normal batterys and will better supply your amp with power. it can also be mounted what ever way you want and it won't leake cause its sealed.
