can anyone help me out? newbie...

hello guys...

i am sort of new at this...

so i have an alpine cda 105 that i tried to wire up to my 1989 240sx...

i used a wiring diagram to connect the old harness to the new harness using butt connectors

everything worked great and powered but when there is movement the deck would shut off until i keep moving it and it started again... i kept doing that until it eventually blew the 10AMP fuse in the interior fuses...(went through like 4 trying to figure out what was wrong)

so then i started to jiggle the wires to see what was causing it to go bad... eventually i nailed it down to the CONSTANT 12V wire... im not sure if its on the old harness or the new harness that i got with the cda 105 but when i move it, it would just shut off...

is there any possible way to fix this so i can get beats and enjoy cruising around my neighborhood?

THANK YOU

HAHAHA, I only laugh here because of something that happened to me some years back. I used to have a 92 240SX and had the EXACT same problem, except mine would just stop working, continue to play music at whatever volume, but you couldnt control it at all...then you get stoped by a cop and cant turn the music down...it's awesome. My problem was a bad groung, the best advice I can give you is to grab a voltmeter, you can get a cheap one for this isolated problem if you dont have one. Test your ground by using the continuity, one prob on the neg battery and on one the ground wire, then jiggle it, if it stops showing cont. make a new ground...if not that, try 12v test DC voltage with one prob on neg battery and one on cont. 12v...jiggle if it falls off you need a new 12v. Disconnect these wires from the HU before testing, get back with us with what you find, Ill give some directions to go based on what the problem looks like

the only thing it could possibly be is 1 of 3 things.... your speaker channels will not cause the deck to do that. so check your 12v constant, 12v switched and ground, and that is really the only thing i can think of that would cause this. Look at your fuse board and check for loose, burnt, or blown 5,10,15,20 ect... amp fuses. Just be sure to make sure all connections are secure like stated... dont just check the deck connections... be sure to check up front under the hood and all possible 12v and ground connection places... other than that just keep us in touch we'll be sure to help

if you wiggle the 12v constant wire and your deck shuts off.....sounds like a loose connection on that wire....maybe some kind of splice farther down the line on that wire that is not making a good connection and is loose....how far back did you trace the 12v constant wire?

I would get two relays. wire one up to provide a constant 12 volt source. Wire the other one up to an ignition source: accessories switch in the fuse panel. This way you have no power fluxuation when your turned on.
