i have kicker 1000.1 amp with 2 12' kicker CVRs

if i upgrade to 2 12' L5s will it make that much of a difference

If you're going to upgrade to another Kicker.. Use two CVX's or L7's. and get a bigger amp.

The L5 is a decent step up, you gain the 20% more cone area per driver,and wont need a bigger amp, although I usually run a 1500.1 on a pair of L5's. However, the 1000.1 will be fine. and yes there will be good amount of improvement. The sweet thing about the L5 and the L7... same enclosure, same port. so you can upgrade from the cvr to the L5 now and when thats not loud enough any longer, you can jump into the L7's with a bigger amp. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
