Need advice on outdoor/marine speakers

mom duke went out and got some Polk Atrium 55 outdoor speakers for our deck. I hooked them up and they sounded like total shit. It sounded like the band was playing at the end of a very long hallway. i tried different sources. the radio wasnt THAT bad, the highs were better than others. but i used a chevelle cd and played nickelback on my moms ipod and both had almost no highs. they sounded like shit. it wasnt the source unit either b/c the indoor speakers sound fine on the unit. well shes going to return them and get different ones. so im just trying to get some reviews on outdoor speakers. right now shes looking at BA voyager 6 & 7's. im about to get my BA pro60's and i was talking to her about how boston is a good company. i really dont know where their outdoor audio stands though. need input and/or more suggestions. thanx

I am in the same boat with you! Check these out on Amazon where they get 5 star ratings and great reviews. For $60.00/pr. I am leaning towards these and they also come in black:

I've never really been impressed with most of the outdoor speakers I've heard in terms of sound quality, but the few that I've listened to which have really surprised me in sound quality were Klipsch brand. I can't give you model numbers but there have been a few times when I've really stopped and checked what kind of speaker was playing just because it sounded good for an outdoor/installation speaker, and I can recall that the Klipsch that I heard were more than decent. Of course, this is speaking from very limited experience, but I just thought I would throw a suggestion out to you.

well thanx for the advice. any other opinions? theres gotta be more people who know outdoor audio...
